THE FEELERS- 'Learn To Hate The Feelers' LP/CD |
|
| LP
IS OUT OF PRINT!!! THE FEELERS (know individually only as: Q.T. Thundguns- Drums, Sean Sensation- Bass, Aleks Red Menace- Guitar, Prof. Dan Feelings- Vox and J.G. Had- Guitar) have had a pretty active career in the short period of time they've been around. After the demise of Alek's old band, The Nurses, he recruited a few chums to start a new band. After a few small line up changes and Sean moving to Columbus the current line up was solidified. As most great bands do, when they can't find anyone around town to plop out their debut single.....THE FEELERS decided to press up a 45 to try and turn a few heads outside of C-town. They pressed a mere 300 copies of their 3 earliest trax and released 'Fuhrers New Miniskirt' on the bands own label Death By Noise Records (of course named after the CRIME lyric!). The single went in and out of print in an instant, later being repressed by Memphis based Contaminated Records only to go in and out of print faster than the first batch. Music critics and fans alike, started hyping THE FEELERS as thee hot shit, must hear, new band to check out! In Rich from Horizontal Action's review of 'Fuhrer's', he says"Trashy, bashy, gashy and FAST. I'm totally infected and I don't even care what it feels like as long as it feels like the FEELERS. More please." Well there Mr. Rich, I felt the same way and after hearing 'Fuhrers', was all over these Columbus dudes to rock me with some unreleased demo material. THE FEELERS promptly (well kind of!!) responded with a disc of a few older songs and some from their "current repertoire". Also accompanying the home make CDR was a messy hand written letter from JG giving me a track by track description of the accompanying auditory chaos. He went on to mention that the first 2 songs would soon be released on a split single with the Blank-It's out of Seattle which has recently been released on Contaminated and has already gone OUT OF PRINT! Geez, will anything by this band stay in print??? So anyways, I popped the CDR in the disc player and was pretty damn floored. WOW!!! What I got was even more blown-fi sounding than their debut. Christ demo material was an understatement, as half of the songs didn't even have vocals on them, and the ones that did were pretty hard to decipher. This mostly "practice session" CDR was pretty hard on the ears, but the same feedback heavy, disjointed, nihilistic punk band that I heard on 'Fuhrers' was there. Just buried beneath a wall of distortion and surface noise, like it was recorded on a 1986 .75, low bias cassette. Well in the rekkid biz, when ya got it, ya got it! And the FEELERS most certainly had IT! The engery and tunes coming from that crappy 'lil CDR was all I needed to hear, to know that these guys could definitely deliver an ass kicker of a full length. So THE FEELERS quickly proceeded to head back in the studio (AKA Sean's basement) to record the tunes for 'Learn To Hate The Feelers'. And to say that this full length is an ass kicker, is an understatement. Although a tad more polished sounding than their first 2 singles, THE FEELERS stopped at none other than perfection on this great slab. By taking bits and pieces of classic punk bands like the Germs, Registrators, Zero Boys and Lewd and smashin' 'em to pieces, the FEELERS duct taped everything back together into 13 rage filled tunes blurred amidst a mess of abrasive, dual guitar fuzz, and demented, psychopathic vox!! Now as a bonus for all the vinyl lovers out there we have decided to include an unreleased bonus track on the wax. So you'll get 14 tracks total, including an unreleased gem called 'Going Anywhere' that totally rips. Oh ya, I'm sure most of the fans already know, but always seems like your supposed to say this. So here's the obligatory: "This is Sean from the Reatards new band!". Great album, trust me....check it out!! For fans of: Catholic Boys, Kajun SS, Tampoffs, Slowmotions, Tokyo Electron,
Evolutions, FM Bats, Human Eye, Stitches, Functional Blackouts, Le Shok,
Registrators, Fatals, AluminumKnotEye, Blank-Its etc. LP IS OUT OF PRINT!!! |
