DEAN DIRG are one of the best new bands to come out of Germany in the past few years. DEAN DIRG, consisting of Doph (Vocals), Borge (Drums), Claus (Guitar) and Torsten (Bass), bring a nice refreshing sound to the oversaturated hardcore/trash punk genres. Beginning in 2000 DEAN DIRG self released a few cassettes that eventually let to their ear splitting 10"viny debut entitled '9 Refreshing Ways to say FUCK OFF'. This 10” took the German underground by storm. Their distinct mix of mid 80's punk/hardcore ala Black Flag, Faith, Void and LARM sprinked with some of the more amped up aspects of newer rockers like the Hives, Henry Fiats Open Sore and the Reatards set them apart from being just another punk, hardcore or garage bands because of their appealing genre mixing.

Following this groundbreaking 10" that went in and out of print in a heartbeat, they released 2 phenomenal LP's. Their debut 'S/T' LP was released in 2002 on German based Pandoras Box Records and is also currently out of print. Following this album came the stellar 'Last Kid On The Block' LP released in 2004 on Germany's Stereodrive Records. Both of these albums are absolutely solid from start to finish and demonstrate the DEAN DIRG's signature short fast bursts of jagged, disconnected rock n roll dabbling occasionally in the pop arena all the while maintaining an aggressive edge thanks to Dophs tough ass vox and Clause’s pummeling git lix! Mild linear comparisons can be made to other contemporary greats like Kajun SS, the Catholic Boys, Krunchies and Feelers; but what's impressive is that these guys have been blastin' since 2000 and are far from a new band!

Quite an impressive musical track record for a relatively unknown, obscure band. After hearing the above mentioned material as well as their killer split with Henry Fiats Open Sore and the flawless 'Chimpanzee EP' 7", these guys had Dead Beat written all over 'em! I was pretty blown away by everything DEAN DIRG had released, and even more amazed that despite their proficient vinyl output...most people outside of Germany weren't even aware of DEAN DIRG. I'm sure alot of it has to do with underexposure and that's all about to change with the release of their latest '26 Kick to Make the Whole World Pay' CD on Dead Beat! '26 Kick...' combines the 12 songs from their long OUT OF PRINT 'S/T' LP and the 14 trax from the'Last Kid On The Block' LP. This 26 song rager is a testament to the genius of DEAN DIRG and I hope their fan base will grow outside of the already established German punk scene. LONG LIVE THE DIRG!!!
